Mentorship Program
Benefits
Alto Velo is excited to introduce a new Mentorship Program for its members, connecting pairs or groups of riders within the club in order to facilitate relationships that would allow for members to better build mastery in cycling. Specific benefits of this program include:
Connecting riders across different levels (ex: Cat 1 to Cat 5, non-racers)
Utilizing collective knowledge within the club
Helping riders accomplish their goals
Fostering inclusion and community
Supporting new riders in feeling more comfortable joining the club and participating in group rides
How it works
What a Mentor-Mentee Relationship would look like:
Mentors and mentees would be paired together with the goal being that mentors would have the experience or knowledge to share that mentees are looking for help with. For example:
An AVRT member who is Cat 3 wants help making it to Cat 2, training for CX, and having better strategy in criteriums. An AVRT member who is Cat 2 and races CX and crits would be a great mentor for them to have
A new AVRT member who is Cat 4 has never raced before and wants advice about what to expect in the race season, how often to race, and where to start with a training plan. An AVRT member who has been on the team for a year racing often and who is accustomed to a training plan would be a helpful resource
A new club member is nervous about joining faster AV group rides because they are new to pack riding. A club member who is a regular on AV group rides would be a good mentor to have to help this new member learn pack riding skills and become more comfortable riding in groups
Mentors and mentees would develop a mode of communication (ex: phone / text, Slack, email)
Mentors and mentees would be encouraged to ride together regularly, join group rides together, and meet off the bike
Mentors and mentees could share questions and experiences when they meet or ride together
How to sign up
