Course: 4 laps of a rolling 20-km course with generally mediocre pavement that became quite bad on the back half of the course

Recap: No teammates-racing solo. Sacramento Specialized Devo had two strong riders who were pacing the race and always staying at the front. My plan was to chase attacks if any came or try to make a breakaway on the last lap.

We started at a fast pace and passed the Cat 4 group, which had started five minutes before us. The official slowed down the Cat 4 group so we could go ahead, but some of our riders stayed with them. As a result, we ended up with only eight riders.

There were several attempts to make a breakaway, but the two Devo riders shut everything down. So I decided to position myself as the first rider through the final corner and go full gas to the finish. That worked well because the road conditions were not great, and taking the central line made it difficult for others to pass. The right side was also blocked by another group. I gave it everything I had to the finish and took the win!
