Egan 2024.14 - Tuesday 6/11 @6pm - Portola Valley
Eganeers,
Public Service Announcement (PSA) - The local cycling community barely survived the pandemic and last year’s regional banking crisis. SVB was an important sponsor for local cycling teams and the regional economy certainly felt the impact. We need to help make the local cycling community thrive again! The Alto Velo Racing Club needs ALL local cyclists to help make this happen by volunteering to help at the club’s annual race event, the Pescadero Road Race. Please, please, please sign up here:
Now on with this week’s ride announcement. With the longer days, it's time to ride the hills of Portola Valley again. This week's route will feature some longer climbs like La Mesa and Wayside, as well as a couple of rare Egan segments!
We recommend bringing lights with you just in case it starts to get dark as we head back to downtown Los Altos.

What: The Egan Ride used to meet at the Jr. High School, but now meets at the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce parking lot every Tuesday at 6:00 pm and leaves at 6:05. We regroup and recover after every climb; if you can do OLH in under 25 minutes you should have no trouble keeping up.
Where: Los Altos Chamber of Commerce. 321 University Ave, Los Altos, CA 94022.
Ride Splitting: If the ride reaches a large enough size, we will split into multiple groups with one group leaving a few minutes after the first. This is for safety, too many folks on some of the smaller roads can be an issue.
How: Remember, pace yourself appropriately, there's lots of hills to climb! Pay attention to traffic and don't hog the road. Riders are encouraged to wear garishly colored socks on the Egan Ride, and riders are discouraged from riding Egan if they wear conservative socks.
